What We Do

Over its nearly 45 year history, the Dugout has helped thousands of people through difficult periods of struggle and transformation.  The fact that many of today’s volunteers are yesterday’s patrons pays fitting tribute to the valuable services offered at the Dugout.

Each day begins with a nourishing bowl of soup and a warm cup of coffee.  Muffins, cookies, pastries and light meals are available throughout the day along with newspapers, community bulletins, and friendly conversation.

The Dugout also serves as an information centre where people can gain access to valuable community resources.  Since 1968 it has hosted the longest running meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Vancouver.

In order to continue to serve the Downtown Eastside, the Dugout needs your help.  Please follow the links to make a donation today.  Your generous gift can make a significant difference in life of someone less fortunate.
